Made to Do This

I’ve just joined Cathy Heller’s Made to Do This three-month virtual coaching program. I decided to join in order to provide me with accountability in launching my philosophy and related offerings around Soul Excellence. Like many of you, I cannot wait any longer to express myself fully and organize my life around the work I love. It is time.

I’ve joined for accountability, but what I’ve received already is encouragement and support. It is so inspiring to be in a group of 200 people who have said – Yes! My life’s work matters! On Friday, I posted a Facebook Live to the group to introduce myself. I had never done this before, and I felt butterflies in my stomach and spoke with a giddier pitch than normal. But, I loved doing it. Why? The women who were watching it shared their thoughts along the way. They congratulated me on my engagement. And then one offered all of her SF wedding venue knowledge! Others mentioned they too were from South Florida, and we chatted about Boca and Weston. Others were also accepting the fact they there are, indeed, writers. And we encouraged one another to write, baby, write!

I felt electric in this group of like-minded people. The group is full of Heller’s creation of makers – those who literally make things like necklaces and cakes; teachers – who share their knowledge; curators – who collect and offer the best; and investigators – who explore new ideas. The diversity of the group when you look at this way is astounding. I am an investigator mixed with a little of curator and teacher, so it always excites me to meet the makers who can sing, produce, bake, craft, design, and build. Such talent!

My concrete goals coming out of the program are to:

  • refine my philosophy – what is soul excellence?
  • uncover the needs of my potential audience (the advice here is that your audience is YOU – start there)
  • launch a podcast
  • launch a small-group retreat

What’s even more cool is that by focusing in on what I love to do – which is explore growth-related ideas, apply them to my life, and write about them – Renata and I are also gearing up to create a podcast together focused on the conflicts and triumphs of our relationship – stay tuned! We can’t think of a better way to hold ourselves accountable for having the difficult conversations that are going to propel our relationship forward ❤️
