Kayleigh O’Keefe, Ft. Lauderdale-based Founder and CEO of Soul Excellence Publishing became a USA Today Bestselling author when her most recent book - The Younger Self Letters: How Entrepreneurs Turned Trials Into Triumphs (And How You Can Use Them To Your Advantage) - broke the esteemed list’s top 100.
Kayleigh, who grew up in Weston, FL and was senior class president at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 2004, spent the last fifteen years working in consulting and technology in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA before moving back home and founding her publishing company right in the middle of COVID in September of 2020.
In her USA Today Bestselling book, she writes a letter to her younger self who was feeling accomplished, but disconnected while in her corporate career. Her book shares what she learned from feeling stifled - and how that would go on to influence her decision to take a leap of faith, leave her career behind, and launch a publishing company.
“I published this book to be a source of inspiration for all of those leaders out there who are feeling stifled and self-censored in our current corporate and political environment. I believe deeply in freedom, starting first and foremost with giving ourselves the freedom to create a purpose-driven life,” Kayleigh shares about the reason for her latest book.
Her company, Soul Excellence Publishing, is designed to upend the predominantly male industry of traditional publishing and to create opportunities for corporate executives and entrepreneurs to tap back into their creativity and inner wisdom to share stories of personal growth and transformation. She leads multi-author book projects where busy leaders can write a chapter - instead of a whole book - to get published. She also helps leaders publish their individual books and works with corporations to share their mission and vision.
In her chapter she shares, “You will commit to seeing individuals through “God Goggles” and share the message of individual freedom and responsibility as the solution to the problem of endlessly expansion state-control. You will become a leader among the “new elites” - those that travel the spiritual path of individual expansion.”
Across 2021, her publishing company has published two Amazon international bestselling leadership books - Leading Through the Pandemic: Unconventional Wisdom from Heartfelt Leaders and Significant Women: Leaders Reveal What Matters Most - helping 45 leaders in seven countries realize their dream of being published. The company is also working with three leaders on their individual books and one chamber of commerce on their corporate book.
“I grew up following all of the rules; graduating cum laude from Duke University, getting a job in Washington, DC, diving into the West Coast tech scene, working hard for promotions, the whole nine yards. Yet, it wasn’t until I gave myself permission to connect back to what I loved most - writing, learning, and connecting with others - that I finally felt free to follow my unique purpose in life.
This is what I now help other leaders do through my publishing company. The pandemic opened up so many people’s eyes to how they really want to be spending time - and how they want to serve in this world.
