Life Comes, We Label It

What if I told you that life does not come with labels. What if I told you that life, the present moment, simply comes. What if I told you that each of us has the power to ascribe meaning to life. And what if I told you that for most of us, we ascribe negative and destructive meanings. And what if I told you that this negative meaning only compounds on itself by lowering our vibration and inviting in more experiences that we deem as “bad.”

Think about it.

Did your partner leave the kitchen a mess because she had to take the dog out or because she is lazy and unobservant? Did the driver on the highway cut you off because she was late to work and didn’t want to be fired or because she’s an inconsiderate jerk who doesn’t deserve a license? Did you receive a bad grade on a science test in middle school and told yourself that you must, beyond a shadow of a doubt, suck and should give it up?

How we experience life is entirely up to us – we are the creators of our worlds and we have the power to assign meaning that enables us to grow or, conversely, the power to assign meaning that gives away our responsibility and places blame on externals.

We see this truth play out in the world right now. There are billions of interpretations for what Coronavirus means – each person on the planet has one. And each interpretation is influencing one’s actions. Many of you are interpreting this moment as the perfect opportunity to reconnect with loved ones on FaceTime, the chance to learn something new online or through a podcast, and to reassess how you spend your time and money. I applaud you!

In episode 12 of The Soul Excellence Podcast, I explore this concept in more detail as part of commitment ten – exploring the opposite. I invite you to join me to learn more about how we can improve our lives simply by how we interpret what is happening around us. This episode also explores the related concepts of how we source approval, control, and security and having enough of everything. Enjoy! You can listen below or on iTunes Podcasts.
